Lake District, England: Nature’s County

  Overview:   Lake District, meaning the land of lakes is in the Cumbria county of England. We visited Lake District on the way back from our trip to Scotland, though the weather was not so pleasing with rains and fog all around. Apart from visiting a few silent places around the Lake District, we took a small hike to the Aira Force waterfalls. Fortunately, the rain had stopped and the hike was pretty easy with beautiful surroundings. True to its name, the water falls from a height of 66 feet with roaring noise. It is believed that this place has been the hunting place of the Duke of Norfolk.         After our return from the falls, we decided to move on towards Manchester for our Old Trafford stadium visit, the home of Manchester United football team's home ground. Cabo Polonia: The Sands of the east-coast of Uruguay Overview: Cabo Polonia is a part of the Rocha department of Uruguay having natural wonders which are very popular during Summers. Below is an excerpt from Wikipedia: Cabo Polonio sits on the tip of a moon-sliver shaped peninsula that extends into the Atlantic Ocean. The back side experiences relentless powerful waves, and on the inside of the moon-shaped area, the water comes calmly to shore. At the top end, a lighthouse stands over boulders tumbling into the sea. Two small, rocky islands dot the coast nearby. This village principal attraction is the Atlantic beach, with water and sand, a natural reserve of sea lions and one of the area's few mobile sand dunes, in which the sand is blown by the wind and moves around the sandy places and the dunes actually change their position. Sirsi, Karnataka: Heritage town in the midst of natural beauty

Overview:   Sirsi is a beautiful town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, known for several tourist attractions around it. The main attraction in Sirsi town is the Marikamba temple, built in 1688. This temple is visited by several tourists everyday and every alternate year, the temple fair is held during which the town is flocked by people from the surrounding villages. The history of the district goes back to the times of Kadambas, and the architecture of the Kadambas can be seen at Madhukeshwara temple in Banavasi, around 22 kms from Sirsi.
