Bethamangala: Interesting story of a small town

Overview: Bethamangala is a small town near Bangarpet and is close to the famous Kotilingeshwara temple. One of the prime attractions in Bethamangala is the Vijayendra temple dedicated to Lord Ranganathaswamy. We entered the town amid chaos and finally found a board pointing towards the temple. The small lane takes us right to the temple. The temple belongs to the Vijayanagara period and is probably built in the early 12th century. The temple is now painted in white though giving it a fresh look. The temple was closed when we went there but we could catch the glimpse of the God in two angles, on from the front and one from the side in a reclining position.

The temple overlooks the Palar dam. The Palar river originates from under the ground in Bethamangala and provides water to the entire town.

How to reach: Bus: KSRTC buses and also several private buses ply regularly from Bangalore to Kolar. From there private vehicles can be hired to reach Bethamangala.
By Bike/Car: Take the NH4 towards Kolar. Bypass Kolar towards KGF to reach Bethamangala
