Museums of Bangalore: Indian Musical Experience

Watch the video here: Overview: I thought Bangalore just had 2-3 museums which are well known until a few years ago, but a little research opened up my thoughts as I discovered several museums within the city. I have decided to visit all the museums in the city and document those.  The first one on the list is the Indian Musical Experience in JP Nagar 7th phase. This beautiful museum is dedicated to the evolution and science behind different forms of music from traditional to contemporary.  As we enter the museum, in the inner courtyard, we can see a sound garden, where we can learn about the sounds created from natural things like wood, stones, and metals. We can try our hand in generating music as well. This area is well enjoyed by both adults and children. We then get inside the museum and the experience starts from the 3rd floor, where we are shown a small animated movie with different types of sound created by nature. From there we enter an interacti

Chikkatirupathi & Kalkunte: An interesting circuit

Overview: Wondering what to do on a Sunday, I decided to take my in-laws for a trip just out of Bangalore. We decided to go to Chikkatirupathi. It was overcast but little chances of rain. So we set off in our car. We went through Outer ring road, Sarjapura via Wipro campus, from Sarjapura village took the Chikkatirupathi road. We enjoyed the countryside and the nice cool weather complimenting it. It took a little over an hour to reach that place. Being a holiday, the temple was a bit crowded. There was some special puja happening inside the temple. We had the darshan of the Lord and offered flowers. The temple is not a very huge one but had lovely colourful gopurams. This place is known as Chikkatirupathi as it has the deity of Venkataramanaswamy and is like a miniature version of the temple in Tirupathi. We roamed around the market area around the temple and proceeded to Kalkunte Agrahara.

At Kalkunte there is a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Ranganatha Swamy in its inclined position. When we went there we were disappointed to see the temple locked. But to our fortune the priest came and opened it for us. It was very cool inside and we had a close look at the deity. It was a wonderful experience at Kalkunte. After this we headed back towards home via Whitefield.
